I…HATE…cancer!!!

I…HATE… cancer!!! Mike is doing great on his oral Chemo and his bloodwork is perfect so we are thankful for that! He is thin and only about 154 pounds (6 pounds less than our 17 year old) but is eating and looking to put on some muscle!

While looking at Facebook this morning two separate posts made me cry. The first from Season Johnson (kickcancer) who's son kicker is a leukemia survivor wrote about the relapse of a little boy named Mateo (Mateo's Journey) who was diagnosed at the same time as her son…so sad, he has to start treatment all over again!  Then the second about a beautiful, sweet mom of two named Rissa who we met in Reno. Rissa was very sick while she was there getting treatments alongside Mike, but we were shocked that she had passed so quickly, and with two kids at home who need her!!!  These kind of things really do put "things" in perspective! Life IS short so we need to do the things that bring us joy, take lots of pictures, laugh, dance, make memories!!!

We are going to make some memories this weekend as we watch our son Jordan, and son in law Isaiah compete in a Crossfit competition called the Granite games, and enjoy time together. We will probably be more motivated to get in the weight room after seeing all the Crossfit athletes 😉💪🏼🏋️‍♀️🏋️

I like this quote from Holocaust survivor and psychiatrist Victor Frankl: "Live as if you were living a second time, and as though you had acted wrongly the first time."

Just Breathe,

Paula

  1. I completely agree with your perspective. Why does it take tragedy to cause us to live more fully? After a short sabbatical to Colorado this past week, I've decided on doing things that will bring me more joy. I wish I would have felt this sense of desire to live a bigger life before losing Logan, because that is exactly how he lived every day.

We need to try new things, make more friends, explore new places, deepen our faith, and mostly embrace our loved ones every chance we get.

I'm going to focus on living a second time starting today!! Praying daily four your family.

    Lots of love,
    Wendy Luft

  2. Thank you Wendy! I wish it didn't take tragedies to open our eyes, but it usually does. Thank you for the prayers, and know that we also pray for you and think of you all daily! It looks like you had a blessed time in CO! We are also living a second time… with more joy!

    Hugs and love to you,
    Paula
